Tropical Ranch House

Tropical Ranch House

MyGreenBuildings recently completed the construction contract to build a Carl Abbott designed "modern ranch" residence nestled into an old oak and sable palm forest that overlooks a horse pasture in East County Sarasota.

This remarkable house is a modern interpretation of the classic ranch home, designed by renowned architect Carl Abbott, who studied, along with classmates Sir Norman Foster and Richard Rogers, at the Yale School of Architecture, under the legendary Paul Rudolph.

We are honored to have been selected by one of the few architects that have a direct lineage to the great modernist architects Gropius and Wright, who trained Rudolph at Harvard. Large roof overhangs and oversized glass sliding doors, as found in this home, are iconic elements of the regional modernism known as the Sarasota School of Architecture.
