About MyGreenBuildings

MYGREENBUILDINGS IS RANKED 5TH FASTEST GROWING COMPANY IN THE REGION

MyGreenBuildings ranks as the 5th Fastest Growing company on the Gulf Coast of Florida from Tampa to Naples, according to the Gulf Coast Business Review 500.  “Finding ourselves on the top of the list as a builder in this economy says a lot about how our company is being perceived in the marketplace and about how High Performance Building has become so important to people building new homes and/or renovating older homes”, says Steve Ellis, CEO.

MyGreenBuildings has become a leader in green building, earning local, regional and national awards for their work along the way.  The company has been selected for some high profile luxury beachfront homes that are scheduled to become the first LEED for Homes® (as rated by the US Green Building Council) on Siesta Key and Casey Key Beaches.

“The breadth and scope of our company’s experience is best represented in the kind of work we are being called on to perform”, says Ellis.  “For instance, we were recently selected to  perform the careful restoration of a 6,000 square foot Carl Abbott designed home in the Hidden Forest subdivision of Sarasota; we began a design-build of a registered historic home addition to a Thomas Reed Martin designed bungalow in Nokomis; we completed the first phase of construction of an ultra modern 5,000 square foot home made of commercial grade concrete beams and glass set in a 2 Acre live oak hammock along Philippi Creek, and we were awarded two additional medical office build-outs.”

MASTER DESIGN AWARD 2009“It means a great deal to us to be recognized on the National stage for our work in the high-performance design-build industry.  We are very proud of all of our team members and our craftsmen-trades that take so much pride in their work, said Steve Ellis upon receiving this award.   “I feel fortunate to have created such wonderful and collaborative relationships with the best architects in the Sarasota area -- and especially honored to be chosen by our forward-thinking clients who clearly take the bulk of the credit in my mind for placing their hard earned money and faith in our growing company to realize their visions and dreams.”  The company has also been honored with Professional Remodeler of the Year 2008 – Gold Category, Green Business of the Year in 2008 , Several Aurora Awards, including the Grand Aurora for Green Building, is a Parade of Homes Winner, a 2009 ADDY award winner and many more Awards and Honors.

EFFICIENT BUSINESS AND BUILDING PRACTICES

MyGreenBuildings continues to win important pricing contests to capture work in this tough economic environment.  MyGreenBuildings consistently provides pricing that is competitive with other skilled area builders.  Having efficient and well thought out business practices and high-performance building practices is our commitment.    In two recently completed projects, we not only finished both jobs on-time, but both were below budget by over $25,000 each!

LIVING AND SUPPORTING LOCALLY

FOUNDERS AND STAFF LEED AP

Both founders grew up in New England and the North East.  "Even though we both have building, development and architecture in our blood, we both developed professionally out of college in first the corporate world, and then in our own successful businesses, said Grant Castilow, President and COO.   "The reason we both do so well together is that we have the same work ethic and each contribute something unique to the company."

MyGreenBuildings is committed to providing unique, high-quality, sustainable construction using socially responsible practices that offer clients the opportunity to have exactly what they want without sacrificing the environment to get it.  MyGreenBuildings is an early adopter of the building principles prescribed by the U.S. Green Buildings Council and the Florida Green Building Coalition, and is a Member of both organizations.

MyGreenBuildings performs at the highest degree of quality throughout each phase of the building process with only the very best trades and subcontractors.  "We are proud to break the old paradigms of building and manage our work in a way that is collaborative with -- and transparent to -- all parties involved in each project," Says Ellis.  "We thrive at performing skillfully managed work under the watchful eye of not only our discerning clients -- but also the entire collaborative production team -- which in our business model includes the client, the architect, engineers, green consultant, home energy raters, third-party certifiers along with the usual inspectors, and governmental bodies including Federal, State and local officials."
