At MyGreenBuildings we focus on designing and building residential and commercial Green Buildings. We design and build new homes, and retrofit older homes using state-of-the-art green green building practices, renewable materials and energy efficient design and systems. We offer light commercial construction - providing ground-up small office and retail, as well as interior tenant build-outs.
MyGreenBuildings' goal is to deliver a sustainable alternative to typical construction methods for forward-thinking, sustainably minded individuals looking to reduce their own "environmental footprint". The company uses energy efficient design to help offset building maintenance costs into the future - which should bode well for retiring baby-boomers. Our recent Goldenrod Project won three SEBC Aurora Awards for Green Building, and received the highest Energy Star rating in the State of Florida. We are proud to have finished the home in record time, while recovering over 75% of all waste relate to the project.
We are in various stages of completion on projects with several homeowners, business owners, and architects throughout Sarasota and the Keys using the best available green building and design technologies to date. Please check out our Project Page for more information.
"Quality vs. Quantity" in Custom Home Construction
We believe that high-performance homes built to a scale that relates more compatibly with the lot size -- with the most well thought out use of space, and quality -- will someday soon outpace the growth of McMansions. As forward thinking architectural magazines like Dwell are featuring, it is clearly cool to build intelligent, higher performance buildings, with higher quality healthy finishes -- than to simply build big luxury spaces.
Builders and homeowners in the 40's 50's and 60's had a much better handle on the scale of homes compared to the lot sizes platted at that time -- which of course we are still building on. With that in mind, MyGreenBuildings is focusing a lot of our building efforts in a five to ten mile radius centered on central Sarasota, encompassing the downtown cultural epicenter, the beaches and abundant core natural and cultural attractions of the area. This area is important to us because we want to give our environmentally conscious clients the ability to walk, ride their bikes, or just reduce drive time to get to their favorite Sarasota destinations.
